Celebrating God's Creation is a ministry within the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus Ohio. The ministry was established in the Fall of 2016 by parishioners who were deeply concerned about caring for God's creation as God intended creation to be cared for. Our ministry will act as a resource for anyone who wishes to learn about the original understanding of man's sacramental relationship with all of creation that was lost after the fall. We will challenge ourselves as a community to examine our lives through the lens of "love thy neighbor" and to create a more just way to serve all of God's creation. We will challenge ourselves to transform the way we think and live in a consumer oriented society that continues to exploit the earth's resources. We will look for ways to repair and restore the damage already inflicted.
As His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has stated, "Everything that lives and breathes is sacred and beautiful in the eyes of God. The whole world is a sacrament. The entire created cosmos is a burning bush of God’s uncreated energies. And humankind stands as a priest before the altar of creation, as microcosm and mediator. Such is the true nature of things; or, as an Orthodox hymn describes it, 'the truth of things,' if only we have the eyes of faith to see it."
